Winding Down

The summer is winding down, and we're excited only because it means we're finally headed home!  We haven't been home (minus one week for me in June) since December!  We've missed Utah and family but we've felt blessed for these two adventures (as P calls them) that we've experienced in California and Arkansas.
Our Arkansas friends: David and Caytlin, Shane and Jessica, Anthony and Allison

Arkansas has been lonely as of late; all of our friends have finished their internships and gone home.  In fact, it seems like everyone who lives in our apartment building has moved out and we're the only ones left!  P's carpool buddy left so I've been without a car this week and let's just say it's been b-o-r-i-n-g.  Even when I had the car I didn't really go anywhere exciting, but it's still nice to have a car and know that you can escape from the apartment if needs be.  I'm really looking forward to getting back to school and having responsibilities such as an internship and a job.  It will be great because for the past 8 months I've basically been "hanging out" all day, everyday.  Although I can't say it hasn't been nice to have a break from real life, I'm so ready to have a life back!

I'm sad that I'll be missing one of my very best friend's wedding.
Us at the John Mayer concert 3 summers ago

Hiking the Y
graduation!
It was hard enough not having her at my wedding and now I can't make it to hers :( Really bummed about this! Love you Candace!

We went to the Five and Dime Store, Sam Walton's very first store, opened in 1950.
It's still located in the same spot on Main Street, across from The Square.

They've turned his original store into a museum where you can learn all about the Walton family and the evolution of Walmart. It's hard to believe that this little 5 and 10 cent store turned into the empire we call Walmart.

We're looking forward to our road trip home and to moving into our apartment in Provo.  See you all soon!

Candace is getting married? How exciting. I always just loved her. Your skirt is so cute that you're wearing in the top picture. And you guys really have had such an adventure--Marcus and I would have loved to do something like that, but it never really worked out for us. Glad you're coming back to Utah! Elise's homecoming is on Sunday too by the way, if you're around. I would be SO happy to see you!

Jess-

I talked to my friend, Heather, and this is what she said about public health:

She said that she worked for the Salt Lake County Health Department and she graduated in Public Health too. The only bad thing is that they have a hiring freeze because of the economy. There is a possibility you could get some kind of temporary position, which is a great way to get your foot in the door.

Hopefully that helps. If you want to talk to her about it or anything let me know and I can get you her email address or phone number.
